Culture, Sport and Recreation

Northern Ireland has agreed a cultural Memorandum of Understanding with China to promote each other’s culture, exchange best practice and identify opportunities to experience activities from music, dance, art and film. This includes everything from the traditional to modern in performance, exhibitions and experiences.

Sport is important to people as a physical recreation,  participation or cheering on some of our heroes. Sport creates friendship and bonds between locals and people all around the world. We have competitions where people from many different countries come to participate or spectate. Our natural environment also provides many opportunities for activities such as hiking in the Mourne Mountains, playing golf on our spectacular courses, cycling on our dedicated cycle routes or simply a walk in the countryside.

Visitors who want a bit more excitement  can also enjoy  watching soccer, rugby or Gaelic games as well as the thrilling motorcycle road races such as the North west 200.
